An indoor cat who gets a taste of the outdoors will forever want to go outside. If you know your cat will always be an indoor cat, do your best to keep them from sneaking out. You can try to train your cat to stay in your yard when you are outside.

Keep your cat’s coat healthy by giving them a supplement of nutritional yeast. Nutritional yeast is an inexpensive supplement that can be found in most health food stores. Simply sprinkle a little bit on your cat’s dry food, or mix it in with their wet food. Not only do they love how it tastes, but it’s full of protein and vitamins that will keep them looking their best!

Enticing kitty to stay off the kitchen counter is sometimes challenging. Cats like heights and like to see everything happening around them. It helps to provide your cat with certain high spaces where it is allowed. If you place a cat tower around the kitchen area, they may be less likely to lay on your counters.

Tags and collars can help you cat return home, but cats can wiggle out of them or risk injury by snagging them on a tree branch or bush. Microchips are tiny and contain all your contact information. They are impossible for your pet to lose, and most vets and shelters have equipment that can read these chips.

Cats love to much on grass and plants such as catnip. There are plants however that are poisonous to cats. Chrysanthemums and holly are beautiful and common around the Holidays, but can be very toxic to cats. Other plants that are toxic or lethal include lilies, rhubarb and daffodils.

Wash your cat’s bed at least once a week to remove all of the bacteria from it. Even if the bed looks like it is clean, it will usually have toxins in it that can cause your pet to become sick. Replace the bed every six months to keep your cat in a sanitary environment.

Adore your cat! Cats give us a lot of love, and they deserve to be loved back. Without love, cats may not socialize with your family. They’ll know they are accepted as members of the family if they get plenty of loving attention.

Be very careful about allowing children to be alone with a kitten. If children are younger than five years old, pets ought not be left with them.
